For Those Who Miss Mo Wax
this is an ode to one of my favorite labels from the 1990s, one that opened my ears to some new and fucked up sounds. this mix weaves in and out of DJ Shadow‘s epic soundscape ‘In/Flux’, my introduction to the nether worlds of sonic exploration, beat craftsmanship and Planet Of The Apes samples. it’s some scientific abstract type shit, and it’s for those who miss Mo Wax.

Hey love your mixes! It’s awesome that I can get in on some of your tunes from the comfort of my own wi-fi connection 🙂
I’ve ‘propped’ you on the FB page I made to share music I like – Music in my ear.
Remember Jockey Slut magazine? Well, James Lavell was featured once in one of their issues. Good read, great mag. That’s pretty much how we discovered this Artist and awesome label from the UK. We only have 2 of their releases. Excursions by Midnight Funk Assoc. wich is the third release in a series of five excursions. The other is a remix ep of DJ Shadow’s Introducing LP. Our ex-girlfiend also got her hands on a release, Clubbed To Death wich is to die for, literally. While in Spain98 with french counterparts we attended a huge music festival named Benicassim. Guess who was spinnin in the bigtop tent….No other than James Lavell himself. He dropped Nirvana’s “Come as you are”. Seem’s like a lifetime ago. Thanks Dj Luv for re-educating us. Great mix as always. Big inspiration.
You made my day, thanks!
